Boobs, bums, willys & tums...

Some recent life drawings.

Tropical turban...

I've worked a couple of festival seasons now and each year I make a new headdress hat, last year I adorned a crumpled top hat (picture pending) and this year I threw some broken jewellery, lace trimming and a flamingo I found at pound land onto a turban. Voila.

*oh and some flowers, feathers and pom poms with bells on.

Don't put your feet on the chair...

This is a little oldie, I think I dropped it before fireing or snapped a toe off, but managed to photagraph the feet I made with my fingers before it was too late.

Another chair. Found it on a street corner. Reupholstered with vintage french fabric and appliqued some lace, covered the frame with two tones of pink mat spray paint.

Don't mention the date...

S'up, hello blog my old friend, so I need a creative job and da bloggings seem to be a good platform for gathering some more just about respectable work together for viewing.

ya wanna see some pictuures ja?

Awesome yoursome horsome...

Giddyup and get bucking excited about these delish screen prints from Horse. Found at yoursomehorse this dynamic Liverpudlian based studio creates some awfully perty pictures. Taking inspiration from music Horse aka Gary McGarvey has produced much of his work for posters, album covers and launches for the likes of  the XX, Bjork, Mogwai and others.

I adore the colour pallet and the build up of texture from repetitive imagery. Haw haw art description bollocks. enjoi.

Lots Lot of Chairs...

The Lots named after the first lot of chairs I bought at auction for a creative side project. I worked on them a while ago and realised I'd never actually posted up the finished photographs so take a look at my handy work.

These where the first four so I kinda threw everything at them, stripping them down to the bone with sand paper and caustic soda. I did a lot of painting and re-sanding and painting and re-sanding. The re-upholsting came pretty easy I'd done a lot of canvas stretching throughout uni its a pretty similar technique, pulling & pinning. Then several layers of paint and a top coat. YAY. Done.

Market Day...

Woah dude. So I'm kinda living down in Brighton now so this be the last Market Day from Maidstone for a while maybe EVER...but its ok, I'm gonna snoop me out some bargains down here.

So this week at the market I bought...  One old school tea chest. When I have my own place and not sleeping on my brothers floor, this is gonna be a sweet coffee table/bedside table/box to hold life's mysteries. The three metal buttons are lush, sweet colours just need to decide what to sew them on. A dinky pencil with metal jacket, some plastic anthropologie-esque earrings and a beautiful back lace jacket.

Black Lace Jacket - £3

Aftermath of the spoon incident...

Hello again. I was all set up to start writing again. I gone done some research, looked at some pictures, arranged a few thoughts, sat to have some lunch and then the spoon thing happened (see previous post). It seemed beautifully poetic and mirroring of my life. Not that I'm suicidal. Just up chicken soup bowl without a spoon.

I am aware I may be over thinking the event.

So lets back track. I've been off gallivanting across field and sea with the magical mystical Hurly Burly. Hence my lack of presence on the Lot.

This summer I went to 8 festivals (9?...) 8 or 9. I've see some cool shit. As well as slogging hard making drinks and perfoming spontaneous dance and drama routines for a fair few hours of the day.

Its hard to pick great moments when there were so many but a few highlights stick out,

TUNE YARDS at Nova

For several reasons

1. Merrill (leading lady) is a bad ass..
2. We dance a routine to one of her songs.
3. She played at Nova, accosted her in a pre gig ramble across the field dragged her to our tent with band in tow and proceed to get all hurly burly right up in her grill.
4. When said rountine song was played last of the set we all scrambled on stage and proceeded to dance. That is untill the music bosses said no and turned it off. Because they suck.

WILDERNESS FESTIVAL

Yup that's right I'm picking a whole festival as wikedy nice times. This one was truly superb. A* to the organisers. Little things like stewards who where friendly and accurately informative*

The setting was beautiful. Strolling deer & peacocks, rolling green hills, huge swimming lakes with extra waterfall. Nice.

On the Sunday evening I plonked myself with a bottle of port and viewed one of my favourite films La Haine on a hillside with a live score accompaniment by Asian dub foundation. Brought to our audible and visible viewing pleasure by The Secret Cinema.

and lastly this teepee from Electric Picnic in Ireland Because I love it andI think it should be in my life.

* unlike the lying poo faced un-organised bumhole security and stewards at Latitude. Who led me and fellow hurly burliers on a four hour wild goose chase to find our camp site after already trekking and travelling for hours to get to the festival in the first place. That was fun. Not like we were tired, hot, sweaty, carrying loads of bags, hungry and close to tears or anything.

The tragedy of a spoon...

Oh Spoon of Soup you slip on down,
stroking the ceramic sides of life.
Be it in colour or black and white I ask
For it is not the vibrancy of the bowl
but the symbolic suicide of a spoon.

I went cycling and saw some boats...

I jumped on my bike and Bro Joe on his and we poodled up to Shoreham ( I say poodle, what I mean is die in head on winds along the coast with my single speed bike) and we looked at some mother frickin boats y'all! they where sweet. Here's some photosnaps of what I found, bit of a surprise half way...

Crack Boat!!!
Why does it have no windows?
growing weed? hiding immigrants?
I'm gonna go with government surveillance spies eating pies.

Concrete boat how do you float.

Boat chicken.

Yeah man. Battle house ship.

Piano chime was dope.

AND THEN WE FOUND THEM.

Crazy ass art boats!
made from everything and anything.

The tear drop windows are just ridiculous, You cant really see from the photo but there's basically a conservatory behind there. Its made with a bus too, you know what ever's lying around. Heart windows and a washing machine too.

Its got a bath tub window and a car wall! whaaat!
Ah I think I need a lie down.

Tie up and die...

Alright alright put the noose down, don't blame the hippies . Yeah the conventional Tie Dye t-shirt can be pretty tacky. Its one of those things you learn to do at primary school which is a bit more fun than learning timestables BUT inky splotchy tie dye splashing and twisting with loads of colour can look kinda alreet.

When asking a family member (Joe) what Items he would most like to own with a tie dye pattern our survey said....Condoms, clouds & contact lenses. Not condoning any of these suggestions, as I believe they would all truly benefit from a splash of colour madness, unfortunately they just don't exist. So ignoring those I've looked at where the pattern has exploded across art, fashion and technology.

These are some of my favourites. If I had monies I would buy everything, and wear them all at the same time. Take that peace on earth I'm getting colour right up in your grill.

*I can't quite remember where I found all these but will have a hunt and link it all up asap.

Real life imgaginationings...

Kids doodles and drawings represent the naive mind of pure untouched dreams ideas and make belief. Dragons with gills, men with 6 arms and sheep with faces buried in the fleece.

A brilliant company called Childrens Own started with the basic idea of turning the unique scribbles of a child into a recognisable soft toys, recreating them as accurately as possible. The result being a personal toy for the child that they can call completely their own.

These toys are frickin cool! get me a caped bird with boots and a flower crown!
